Alchemy: Green Fibre Jewellery – an Idea Exchange At Green Summer Festival

This activity was based on the theme of “Cherish Leads to a Good Life”. Participants were asked to bring a piece of old clothing or cloths from their wardrobe. Larger pieces were collected and cut into squares of five inches aside, with additional half-inch for seam. Smaller or more irregular pieces, often designated as “useless”, were turned into small wearable objects.

Participants then took these raw pieces, and breathed new life into them. Square pieces, small buckles, and even mere threads were stitched together bit by bit, and became platforms of exchanges with the audiences.

Contemporary Jewellery are embodiments of visual dialogs. Based on their own life experiences and ideologies, artists use their hands to create jewellery pieces. Just like literatures and music, these pieces can become effective means of communication.
