Dr. Ching Sze-Yin, Cicy has been a full-time, practicing studio jeweller since 1996, and is currently a lecturer at the Academy of Visual Arts at the Hong Kong Baptist University.
She received a Bachelor and a Doctorate degree in Fine Art from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology University, Australia, and a Master’s degree in Art from the University of Sunderland, UK. Although she grew up in Hong Kong, it was during her stay at the small city of Sunderland that she crystallized her research interest in the portraying city living. Her latest study was on the Fragility of City Living.
In terms of materials, she mainly works in metal, porcelain and glass.
She has exhibited in Hong Kong, Japan, China, Australia, Korea, United States, Estonia, Latvia, Portugal, Ukraine, Slovakia and the United Kingdom, and her works are collected by the Hong Kong Heritage Museum, HK; The Design Centre, University of Sunderland, UK; Evald Okas Museum, Haapsalu, Estonia; National Museum, L’viv, Ukraine; and The Slovak Glass Museum, Lednickè Rovnè, Slovakia.
